First off, every shoot is catered to the client, their goals and story we want to tell. HOWEVER, I have some fool proof poses and prompts that I utilize to get the shoot started. If you’re nervous or not sure what to expect during a shoot, below are a few of my go-to poses!
Take a Seat
“I don’t know what to do with my hands” – we’ve all been there. By starting with seated poses, we have less limbs to worry about and it’s a great warm up pose.
Walk it Out
Whether it’s a headshot or lifestyle shoot, walking is one of my major go-to’s. This can look like slowly walking towards the camera, looking off to the side or straight at camera. Ladies – when taking each step, exaggerate the steps by crossing one leg over the other. It feels silly but creates a natural looking silhouette and movement in each shot.
Be Happy!
Seriously, fake-laughing is the hardest one for clients to believe. Yes – you fake laughing really does work! 9 out of 10 times, you’ll just end up laughing at yourself which feels natural in photos.
Ultimately, my goal is to have your brand photography reflect YOU. If you’re more reserved and prefer your photos to reflect a calming spirit and message, we don’t need your photos to be loud and over the top. And vice versa. Taking the time to define your goals and end use for your photography will lead what we do together on the day of the shoot.
