One Year of Lumière

In some ways this past year has flown by, and in other ways, I can’t believe we finally made it. Regardless of that, it’s a milestone that I’m immensely proud of because of the work, effort and trust put into this process! In this post, I want to take some time to reflect on the growth, the achievements and the joy that has come from entrepreneurship. 

Just weeks before starting this business, I learned that the agency I currently worked for was preparing to close. It took a few days to even let myself consider the possibility of starting my own business. It was a little bit of crazy, a little bit “if not now, when?” and a whole lot of encouragement from my friends. Though that time was chaotic, I sought to create beauty and order. From the start, I have strived to capture light, hold onto optimism and trust myself. “Lumière” only felt fitting. 

When I look back on work I made this time last year, the photos I captured and designs I created, I’m transported back to that feeling, almost like nostalgia. The feeling of excitement mixed with nervousness; the “what am I doing!?” met with the drive to push myself and continue creating. 

The first three months of this business were marked by immense introspection, dreaming up what could be, as well as just making a lot of work. I even look at this website and marvel that I built it within a matter of weeks.

Since then, I’ve been in awe of the amazing projects I’ve been able to be a part of. From photoshoots to logo designs. Below are a selection of photographs that are particularly special to me, from moments of inspiration to projects I really loved working on. 

Reflection has always been a valued piece of my creative process. Taking time to look back on work I’m proud of only makes me excited and hopeful for what’s to come. I look forward to embracing new connections, creating work that fills my cup and seeing where each new change takes me!
